Privacy policy

Inches and Centimeters Converter is run by Cozy Cog. This page explains what we collect when you use our tools, why we collect it, and the choices you have. It covers every tool Cozy Cog runs. "We", "us" and "our" mean Cozy Cog.

What we collect

  • What you type into a tool. The tool works in your browser and shows your result right away. We do not store your answers unless you ask us to email you your result.
  • Your email address, only if you give it. Giving it is optional; you see your result either way. If you ask for an email, we keep your address, the answers shown in your result, and the time you asked, and we first send a link to confirm the address is yours.
  • Visit information. Like most websites, our servers receive your IP address and browser details. We count visits to each tool by day. We use your IP address to tell which country you are in, only to decide whether the services below may load.
  • Paid-link clicks. When you click a paid link, we record the time, which offer you clicked, your browser details, a scrambled (hashed) form of your IP address, and the ad click ID if you came from an ad.
  • Ad click ID. If you came from a Microsoft ad, the web address includes a click ID (“msclkid”). We keep it in a cookie for 90 days so we can tell which ad brought you here, and with your email request, if you make one, until you unsubscribe. If a paid link you click leads to a sale, we tell Microsoft which ad click it was (its click ID), when, and how much we earned, so its reports show which ads pay. We never send Microsoft your email address or your answers. We do not keep the click ID at all if your browser sends Global Privacy Control.

How we use it

  • To show your result and, if you ask, to email it to you, along with occasional updates and offers.
  • To see which tools and ads work, so we can improve them or shut them down.
  • To match the payments our partners report, and to stop fraud and abuse.
  • To follow the law.

Paid links

Some tools show offers from other companies. Each one is marked “Paid link.” If you click one, you leave our site, and the other company’s own privacy policy applies there. We may be paid if you sign up or buy something. We send the company a click number, and the Microsoft ad click ID if you came from a Microsoft ad, so it can tell us the click led to a sale; neither includes your name or email address.

Our emails can contain paid links too. When you click one, we log the time, the offer, which email it was in, your browser details and a scrambled form of your IP address, and which of our tools you signed up through. We remove that link to your subscription after 90 days, or at once when you unsubscribe or ask us to delete your information. With every paid link, on our sites or in our emails, the company also gets the short name of the tool it was shown on, so it can tell us which tool earned the payment.

Services we use

We load the first two services below only for visitors in the United States, and never when your browser sends Global Privacy Control (see below). Outside the United States, neither of them loads.

  • Microsoft Advertising (UET tag). Measures whether our ads lead to visits and actions on our sites, such as an email you submit or a paid link you click. Microsoft collects or receives personal data from you through this tag, such as the pages you visit on our sites and what you do on them, and uses it as described in the Microsoft Privacy Statement. The tag can set cookies. You can turn off personalized ads from Microsoft in your Microsoft ad settings.
  • Microsoft Clarity. Records how people use our pages, such as clicks, scrolling and replays of visits, so we can fix confusing parts. It hides what you type and the results our tools show. It sets cookies. See the Microsoft Privacy Statement.
  • Running the sites and sending email. Vercel hosts our sites and Supabase stores our records. ActiveCampaign keeps our email list and sends our updates and offers. Amazon Simple Email Service (Amazon SES, part of Amazon Web Services) sends your result and confirmation emails. They work for us and may use the information only to provide their service.

Cookies

  • bets_msclkid (ours): the Microsoft ad click ID, kept 90 days. Not set with Global Privacy Control.
  • bets_trk (ours): set only for visitors in the United States, so the page knows it may load the services above. Kept 1 day. Not set with Global Privacy Control.
  • Microsoft Advertising cookies, such as _uetsid, _uetvid and _uetmsclkid: measure ad results. Not set with Global Privacy Control.
  • Microsoft Clarity cookies, such as _clck and _clsk: link page views in one visit. Not used with Global Privacy Control.

You can block or delete cookies in your browser settings. Our tools still work without them.

Global Privacy Control

We honor Global Privacy Control (GPC). If your browser sends it, Microsoft’s ad tag (UET) and Microsoft Clarity do not load at all, and we do not keep the ad click ID, so we never pass it to a partner or report a sale from your visit to Microsoft. Our tools work the same either way. GPC applies to the browser and device that sends it.

Selling and sharing

We do not sell your email address or your answers, and we do not give them to advertisers. Using Microsoft’s ad tag and keeping the ad click ID may count as “sharing” for targeted advertising under some U.S. state privacy laws. To opt out, turn on GPC in your browser: then neither happens. You can also email us at hello@cozycog.com.

Email

We only email you if you ask and confirm the address is yours. We send the result you asked for, plus occasional updates and offers. Our emails may include offers, some from partner companies, that may pay us if you use them. A partner never gets your name or email address from us: when you click one of its links in an email, it gets only a click number and which of our tools the email is about. We never sell or rent your email address, and we never share it with advertisers or partners. ActiveCampaign keeps our email list and sends our updates and offers, and Amazon SES (Amazon Web Services) sends result and confirmation emails; both handle your address only for us. Our email list also notes which of our tools you used, the day you first confirmed your address, and whether you first came from an ad, so we can send updates and offers that fit those tools. Every email has an unsubscribe link, and one click stops all our emails, from every tool. After you unsubscribe, we keep your address on a do-not-email list so we do not email you again, and we remove your answers and results from our records and from our email list. The one exception to “we never share your address”: if we sell a tool, the email addresses and records of the people who used it may go to the buyer, who must treat them the way this policy says. Addresses of people who unsubscribed never go to a buyer.

How long we keep it

  • Your email address and result: until you unsubscribe or ask us to delete them (then only the do-not-email record stays).
  • If you never confirm your address, we remove your answers and result after 7 days.
  • Visit counts: daily totals per tool, with nothing that identifies you.
  • Paid-link click records: the record that a paid link was clicked stays so partner payments can be checked; the scrambled IP address, browser details and ad click ID in it are removed after 90 days.

Your choices and rights

You can ask what information we have about you, ask us to correct it, or ask us to delete it. Email hello@cozycog.com from the address you gave us and say what you want. We answer within 45 days. We will not treat you differently for asking.

Children

Our tools are meant for adults. If you are under 18, please do not give us your email address.

Security

Our sites use encrypted connections (HTTPS), and only the people and services that need our records can reach them. No system is perfect, so we cannot promise that information will never be exposed.

Changes

If we change this policy, we will update the date at the top of this page.
